12 issues to be aware during installing UPS power supplies

I. For the input / output wiring of the machine

For the input and output wiring of the machine, the electrician should connect in advance and pull the machine to the installation site to set aside a certain length (generally reserved 1-1.5 m long), so that the machine arrived on the site after a smooth installation. For those that require factory dispatcher installation, the user should be ready for everything (including electricity to send and load ready) before the factory can send personnel to start.


II. Access line diameter selection

The selection of the input and output wire diameter of the machine should not be lower than the national electricity safety standards. Special attention should be paid to the three input and single output machine. The inlet diameters of bypass line and zero line must be 3 times higher than that of line type/ line load of other two phase lines:

(2)6m㎡Type:6x7A;
(3)10m㎡Type:10x6A;
(4)16m㎡Type:16x5A;
(5)25m㎡Type:25x5A;

III. Key points of route

To choose multi-core soft wire is the better convenient for users wiring and also conducive to machine wiring for all inputs, output copper core wire. Machine input, output of the underground line should be metal material jacket (especially under the room anti-static floor line), in order to prevent rat bites, accidental damage, cracking, etc. The metal sheath can also shield the electromagnetic field, which is advantageous to the underground running of the signal line of the communication equipment.

IV. Export prevention
When the user is routed, the output of the machine must be pulled separately! Set  the output dedicated plug/socket must be strictly distinguished from the daily electrical plug/socket, and to mark the eye-catching logo. The output of the machine, socket should not be juxtaposed or stacked with ordinary plug-in socket! In order to prevent accidentally plug the machine into the decoration of electric drills, vacuum cleaners and other power equipment damage this power supply. UPS for precision power supply, more suitable for computer-type weak sensory load belt, cannot plug in more ticket printers!
Bank system pressure money machine, copiers, laser printers, electric shutter doors and other strong sensory load cannot be plugged in! If used, UPS must match the power matching ratio of UPS with such production equipment such as strong sensory loads or patch machines  as well as medical devices such as CT Scan machine and MIC magnetic resonance, which must be above 4:1. Similarly, the power matching ratio of conventional EPS to power equipment is more than 5: 1.


V. Safe grounding

Check the grounding wire, whether its grounding resistance is in line with national standards, which is conducive to safe operation of the machine and lightning protection. The input air switch or circuit breaker (zero line must not be set separately) should be set in the power distribution cabinet at the front of the machine input. The battery for UPS/EPS should be periodically discharged for detection. but its model should not be too small, should be slightly larger than the maximum input current of UPS to avoid excessive power and frequent tripping. The UPS and EPS input front ends must not be connected to any leakage protection switches.


VI. Balance electricity consumption

The power distribution of three-phase electricity in the user distribution cabinet should be distributed in a balanced manner, such as the distribution difference is too large for the neutral line (zero line) current and zero to the ground voltage is too high, which will cause the machine to operate unsafely or even cause a fire.


VII. USE OF THE ENVIRONMENT

UPS and EPS should not be placed in a humid, dirty, non-convective environment. Small UPS should not be directly stacked on the ground, the bottom should be equipped with cushions, to prevent moisture condensation in the spring! Medium and large machines are best placed in a dedicated machine room with a good operating environment (such as less dust, appropriate ambient temperature, humidity, etc.) can greatly extend the service life of machines and users of various loads. The ambient temperature is above 25°C. The life of the battery is halved for every 10°C increase! The service life of the machine is halved for every 10°C increase in the ambient temperature above 30°C

VIII. Ventilation / load-bearing safety
The machine should be placed in the machine's in / out of the air duct distance from the wall not less than 30 cm to facilitate the machine heat! Medium and large UPS long time delay models with batteries, but also need to consider the floor bearing pressure (International standards: office buildings per square meter not more than 1000 kg, industrial plants not greater than 1400 kg). If the standard needs to take a larger load area to reduce pressure to be solved, generally using the setting of large area steel plate or increase the number of battery cabinets.


IX. Lightning protection needs

For UPS and EPS users in suburban and open areas, due to the small number of high-rise buildings, its power transmission relies on overhead lines the overhead lines are vulnerable to lightning in thunderstorms season. Users should install special high-power lightning protection device in the front of the input of the machine in order to effectively avoid the damage of lightning on the equipment and user load.

X. Preliminary Inspection of Installation

Before installation, open the door of the machine to check whether the screws, wires, components and transformers of the circuit boards, wiring, capacitors, safety tubes and modules are loosened or dropped.
1. The above process is to prevent the machine in the transportation having a great vibration caused by adverse phenomena.
2. Check the above process if the light is not enough, then you must borrow a flashlight or other light sources to carefully check to in order to go the following procedures.


XI. Phase sequence requirements

Three-phase UPS machine input wiring has phase sequence requirements (EPS no requirements). In accordance with the phase sequence will be power U, V, W, N access to the UPS and then connected to the ground wire hand shake to see whether the wire loosening and lock. After confirming the R, S, and T phase sequence, the U-N, V-N, W-N voltage is measured with a meter in the range of 220V± 25% and the frequency is 50 Hz ± 1. Close the machine power input switch, then close the automatic bypass switch. If there is a long alarm sound is the city power input wrong phase, should immediately correct the phase (arbitrary switch input three-phase one phase, no long alarm means the phase is correct).

XI. Battery pack connection
After the battery pack is connected, the battery pack's positive and negative cables are connected to the positive and negative ends of the machine. Pay attention to the positive and negative connections of the battery pack and the positive and negative terminal connections of the machine should be consistent (i.e. positive connection with negative connection) and locked. The measured battery terminal voltage should be approximately: the number of batteries × 13.5V for the running machine. In the case of disconnecting the battery pack, the measured charging voltage should be: the number of batteries in the same group × (13.6-13.8V).
