UPS power supply scheme for manufacturing industry

Requirement analysis:


In the application field of the manufacturing industry, UPS power mainly supplies power to three types of equipment: measurement equipment (various instruments and meters, etc.), execution equipment (various motors, etc.), and control equipment (PLC, computer, etc.)


Measurement equipment generally has high requirements for power supply quality and is very sensitive to power supply voltage quality. If the harmonic content of the power supply voltage is too high, it may cause interference to the measurement data and cause the system to perform incorrect operations in the future; If the power supply frequency drifts, it may also cause deviation in the system measurement data. If there is an instantaneous high-voltage pulse in the power supply voltage, it may also cause high-voltage breakdown and damage to the measuring equipment. So the power supply of measuring equipment must be high-quality and pollution-free.


Execution equipment generally belongs to the load category of electric motors, which differs from the characteristics of general IT equipment. These electric motor loads will generate impulse current during startup. If the capacity and impact resistance characteristics of UPS are not strong, it may cause the execution equipment to be powered on, causing UPS uninterruptible power supply to undergo impulse bypass. So in the selection of UPS, it is necessary to choose one with strong impact resistance and output with isolation transformer. And the capacity should be appropriately relaxed.


Basic configuration scheme:


1.The manufacturing industry has high requirements for power supply quality andreliability. Once power supply quality deteriorates or power supply interruption occurs, it will bring a large number of defective products and incalculable losses. So in the design of power supply schemes, it is necessary to choose a power supply scheme with higher reliability as much as possible.


2.The load types and IT load characteristics in the manufacturing industry are different,and sometimes they may contain impulsive loads or motor type loads. Therefore, when choosing UPS, choose UPS with output isolation transformers.


3.The unique environmental characteristics of the manufacturing industry often determinethat its core equipment inevitably withstands external conditions such as electromagnetic interference, dust, acid mist, high and low temperatures, dryness or excessive humidity. The core power supply unit and surrounding auxiliary equipment must be able to adapt well to harsh environments.


Advantages of the plan:


1)High reliability:
Under the current technical conditions, the N+1 mode is one of the effective ways to eliminate the Single point of failure of the system and increase the reliability of the system. As can be seen from the table below, the reliability of the system is greatly improved compared with that of a single machine after the 2+1 mode is adopted.



The system adopts a 2+1 redundant power supply mode, and during normal operation, the three machines in the system share the load equally, with each machine bearing approximately 2/3 of the load. When a machine malfunctions, exit the parallel system and the system load will be borne by the remaining two machines. At this point, the power supply of the system is not affected, but the remaining UPS load has increased.


2)High maintenance:


Adopting a 2+1 system, when maintenance is required for a single machine in the system, one of the machines can be removed from the parallel system, while the other two machines provide continuous power supply to the load without being affected. If the 2-parallel scheme is adopted and the system needs maintenance, the entire system must be switched to manual bypass. At this time, the load is supplied by the mains power, so there is no guarantee of power supply quality and continuity. After adopting 2+1, this risk can be avoided.


3)Environmental adaptability:
