Negative electrode formulation for high-temperature performance of lead-acid batteries (containing the first hydrogen evolution inhibitor Bi2O2CO3 and the second hydrogen evolution inhibitor ZnO).


The basic formula of the negative electrode (number of weight) is: 100 parts lead powder, 8 ~ 11 parts dilute sulfuric acid, 9 ~ 13 parts deionized water, 0.06 ~ 0.14 parts short fiber, 0.10 ~ 0.20 parts lignin, 0.3 ~ 0.45 parts humic acid, synthetic tanning agent (NF type, α naphthalene sulfonate formaldehyde polymer), 0.05 ~ 0.1 parts barium sulfate, 0.8 ~ 1.2 parts Carbon black 0.10 ~ 0.15, high conductivity graphite 0.04 ~ 0.08.

Hydrogen evolution inhibitor and humic acid mixed into the negative plate can inhibit the hydrogen evolution of the negative electrode, reduce the water loss rate, and extend the high-temperature cycle life of the battery.

The preparation process of the negative lead paste is as follows: Bi2O2CO3, ZnO, and humic acid are mechanically mixed, and the mixture is evenly stirred. Dry mix it with lignin, synthetic tanning agent, short fiber, barium sulfate, carbon black, high conductivity graphite, etc. Add lead powder and stir for 5to 10 minutes to stir well; After stirring for 1 minute, add deionized water within 2 minutes and stir evenly, add dilute sulfuric acid within 3 minutes and stir for 10 to 15 minutes to make a negative lead paste.

Test data:

The assembled battery and ordinary battery were tested for accelerated floating charge at high temperature: 3hr was tested first, and after being fully charged, it was charged in a 60℃ environment for 30d, and after being removed, it was left to stand for 24h. 3hr was tested in a 25℃ environment, and recharge was a cycle until the 3hr capacity of the battery was below 80%.

The results show that the formula of negative lead paste can effectively inhibit the negative plate's hydrogen evolution, reduce the battery's water loss rate, and increase the high-temperature cycle life.
